Fractures

Bones and cartilage that fracture, break, rupture or crack are injuries that typically take approximately 4 to 8 weeks to heal. However serious or complicated fractures may necessitate surgical repair with steel pins and rods, skin grafts, and extensive rehabilitation . These injuries often result in severe financial loss including medical expenses, loss of current and future wages, pain and suffering, ongoing rehabilitation therapy, permanent pain management therapy and loss of future enjoyment.

There are four basic types of fractures:

  • Simple fracture: A fracture in which the bone only is ruptured. It does not communicate with the surface by an open wound. This is the most common type of fracture.
  • Compound fracture: A fracture in which the bone is broken into several parts.
  • Comminuted fracture: A fracture in which the bone is broken into several parts.
  • Complicated fracture: : A fracture in which there is an open wound from the surface down to the fracture.

Your ability to make a claim for personal injury rests upon three factors:

  1. First is liability, that is, who caused the accident and is legally responsible;
  2. Second is the establishment of an amount of damages to which you are legally entitled, and;
  3. Third, the ability to collect the damages, specifically what sources, such as insurance or individual assets, are available for payment of a settlement or damage award.

It is important that you consult an experienced personal injury attorney before you accept any settlement for damages from a negligent party or insurance company.

As attorneys, we help our clients establish the liability, evaluate and prove the damages, and collect the settlement or judgment. We handle all of the details and are prepared to help our clients get through the hardships and stress created by a serious and often permanent injury.
